According to the General Department of Customs, in December, Hai Phong Port Border Gate Customs Branch Area 3 (Customs Branch Area 3) detained the enterprise’s imported shipment due to suspicion of false declaration of many valuable items. such as cars and electronic devices into plastic granules. The unit importing this shipment is a limited liability company in Dan Phuong district, Hanoi.
Customs said the business declared the goods as 19 tons of polyamide 6 granular virgin plastic, gradeKN133g30 natural originating from Korea. This is an item with an import tax rate of 0% and shows signs of low risk, so the customs clearance system automatically categorizes it as yellow (electronic records check).
On December 8, 2012, the Department decided to check paper records and proceed to red channel (physical inspection of goods) due to doubts about the type of goods. By the end of December 10, 2012, the Department had notified and repeatedly requested the company representative to present the goods for inspection, but did not receive cooperation from the business, so they decided to inspect the shipment.
The results showed that the shipment was not virgin plastic as declared, but was cosmetics, clothes, candy, carpets, and used electronic goods (speakers, amplifiers, disc players. .). In particular, the shipment also included a used Kia Morning car.
In March 2012, the Control Team of Hai Phong Customs also detained four smuggled luxury cars including a BMW X6, a BMW 750 Li, a Mercedes S550 and a Volkswagen Touareg. This batch of luxury cars was imported from the US to Hai Phong port on February 26 with a customs declaration of imported rolled aluminum. After that, a business (in Cau Giay district, Hanoi) that received the goods refused to accept these vehicles. In early April, a smuggling ring of luxury cars from the US to Hong Kong and Vietnam was busted, raising suspicions that these were 4 stolen cars. In June 2012, Hai Phong port customs representatives confirmed that these 4 vehicles had been confiscated and confiscated into public funds.
